New Hong Kong Airport Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong J Roger Preston Ltd was appointed as the M&E services and utility services designer under Greiner - Maunsell master planning design team responsible for the entire Chek Lap Kok Airport Island design development. We were responsible for liaison with various utility companies and government authorities to establish and define the design criteria, services capacity, distribution routings (co-ordination will all civil works), telecommunication underground ductwork systems, power supply strategy, seawater cooling and fire fighting strategy. The master planning report also included the phased expansion strategy for all infrastructural services throughout the entire airport project plan up to year 2040. Detailed Design for Chek Lap Kok Airport Apron Flood Lighting and Security Lighting JRP were further employed by the then Provisional Airport Authority to provide a turn-key design solution for all the apron flooding and perimeter security fence lighting. The apron flooding lighting was designed to ICAO standard with a total of 191 high mast system interface with air-side control system. Perimeter security fence lighting provides a first line of defence against intrusion consisting of 560 security lamp poles to protect the fence line of 11km. As the lead consultant, JRP employed other sub-consultants including airport planner, structural engineer and quantity surveyor to perform the detailed design consultancy contract.
