Singapore University of Technology & Design (SUTD) Interim Campus with a GFA of about 30,000 m2 was converted from the existing ITE which comprised 6 blocks of low-rise buildings. This upgrading was carried out to accommodate the first batch of students of the SUTD, while awaiting the completion of their new premises.

For operational work flow reasons, the individual blocks were designated for student use, lecture halls and tutorials, laboratories and workshops, recreational and lounge facilities, fitness centre and multi-purposes hall, staff use, canteen and others. Other rooms include faculty rooms, think-tank rooms, conference and meeting rooms, co-op shops and administrative areas.

Due to the limited cooling requirements, an air-cooled chiller system was provided, serving only to Multi-Purpose Hall. Other areas were provided with Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) systems with condenser units located on the roof. “Big-Ass” fans were installed at the Student Terrace for natural ventilation.

The project was awarded with BCA Green Mark Certified
