The high quality of the 33-storey extension, which added 121 extra rooms and 18 end suites, a rooftop restaurant, two helipads, swimming pool, function rooms, health club, spa and 10 floors of top quality office space  The construction of  117 metre high tower concurrently with a five level basement 23 metres deep using the innovative, time-saving “top down” technique.

The building frame to the extension is of reinforced concrete supported by a diaghragm wall and caissons and the entire structure is clad in a panelised curtain wall system matching the existing façade.

The project awarded HKIA Silver Medal (1995).
